2007/11/27 Walking in a Winter WonderlandCan you smell it in the air?
The warmth of chestnuts roasting on an open fire?
The sound of sleigh bells ringing in the distance?
Fortunately for me, Santa Claus IS coming to town! And I got my first rush of Christmas in Zurich.
Chocolates and more chocolates... I am now ready to deck the halls with boughs of holly. In fact, I am so happy I'm experiencing a rush of adrenaline now, making my heart beat faster and my palms sweaty. I'll be coming back next month on my annual leave on the 14th and leaving Singapore for Dubai on 23rd... then on 23rd night I'll be operating a flight back to Singapore which means I'LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS!
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I managed to swap my double sector Doha and Bangkok-Hongkong flight for a Singapore-Melbourne. So I'll be off to Melbourne on Christmas Day itself. Not too bad... I still get to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas morning back home!
I am all smiles.
Next month is gonna be a great month. Sheryl is coming to Dubai and I have such nice flights!
My last week however, was full of ups and downs. It was an exciting week complete with butterflies in my stomach, (alcohol in my stomach), lying men and cheating bastards. It's too much to be written down in a few words but it's OVER now so I'll put it behind me. But if I ever see the bunch of a**holes again, be afraid, because I will not hesitate to give you a piece of my mind.
Tsk.
But it was good while it lasted though.
Enough said. Off to Dusseldorf tomorrow for my second rush of Christmas!
2007/11/22 I am HIGHLY FLAMMABLEOohhhh I haven't been working which means I'm back to my lifestyle of "sleep-all-day-parteeee-all-nite". Except that I haven't really got a chance to sleep all day, considering I'm out and about from sunrise to well, sunrise...
After 2 consecutive nights of consuming apple sours, vodka, jagermeister, vodka, absynth, jagermeister, vodka, long island, vodka and smirnoff ice, smirnoff ice and more smirnoff ice, my friends have concluded that if u squeeze me dry, u can fill up a bottle of alcohol; good for cleaning and disinfecting purposes.
Finally today, I can stay home. After days and nights of lunching with frens, dinner parties and Zinc nights, oh and shopping around yesterday with a cloud of massive hangover over my head, I am gonna go back to my roots of being domesticated.
I have changed my sheets and duvet cover and painted my nails so now I'm off to make lunch then do some ironing after that.
Meanwhile, I should avoid high heat and open flames. 2007/11/18 What's worse than being stood up?So you would think that I would be in Jakarta now- relaxing by the pool
Well, I was supposed to be doing all that but I am NOT!
After waiting around all day, getting delayed, getting on the plane
Sigh... there goes my 48hrs layover in Jakarta.
I blame the fog.
So to answer my own question... the correct answer would be *ding ding ding*
Getting a stand down + a stand by.
2007/11/17 Winter is hereI woke up this morning at 5.45am, walked into the living room and thought, which silly cow left the window opened? Everything looks so blurry outside, condensation must have formed on the windows.
Then I opened the window and realised, nope, it's not condensation. No condensation. It's the fog.
I can barely see 200m.
The fog and cold air mean winter is here.
And my flight is not.
I'm all dressed and ready to step out of my house but I just received my roster changes.
My flight is delayed 6 freaking hours!!
6 freaking hours.... 2007/11/11 Beauty secrets at 40000ftThey say that champagne makes your skin soft and smooth.
For a good number of months, I've been washing my hands with Moet & Chandon everytime I gash the champagne at the end of the flight.
It did nothing for my skin except make it reek of alcohol.
Maybe it only works with Dom Perignon.
Anyway, the champagne in Business Class has been changed to Tattinger and I don't like the sound of it so I guess I'll only use it to polish my jewellery next time.
Although I must say that I don't wear my diamonds to work.
They are all kept in a rusty metal Khong Guan biscuit tin under my bed.
Now I heard that eating caviar is good for your skin. Better than a caviar facial!
I was working in First Class on my Frankfurt flight and there was plenty of caviar left on the return sector so I had 2 helpings. I don't think it's doing any thing for my skin. Do I have to wake up tomorrow to see it glow?
I think the only thing caviar did to me was raise my cholesterol levels.
...And fat levels (considering the amount of sour cream I added to it!!). 2007/11/9 YawwwwnnnnnnnnnTonite has been the only night I'm home in the last couple of days.
I came back from Tunisia on Tuesday morning. It should have been Monday night really but I was complaining and whining and whinging that the layover was so short that in the end, by a stroke of luck, we were delayed 5 hours and I got back on Tuesday morning instead. I slept the entire day when I got back. It was a horrible horrible flight because passengers were so rude. No matter how beautiful Tunis is, it didn't quite make up for the terrible flight.
And might I say, Tunisia is a beautiful country along the Mediterranean. The scenery was breathtaking, the hotel we stayed in Carthage was very nice and this little town called Sidi Bou Said that I went to have dinner at, kinda reminded me of Malaga. It was a cross between the South of spain and the Greek Islands with its white buildings and blue windows.... imagine that!
Check out this picture I took of the sunset... romantic in all the wrong ways. *sigh*
When I finally forced myself awake, I headed out for coffee and scrabble. I haven't played scrabble since... erm, I was 5 years old and had very limited vocabulary then! But the scrabble game was good. And that was followed by a game of competitive monopoly! It was board games night really. I stumbled home at 6am, went to bed till noon and headed out for lunch. Yesterday was a bit more chill out. After another round of scrabble, I headed to my Italian friends' house for a game of pool, home-cooked pasta dinner and then spent the rest of the night in front of Playstation 2. Again, I successfully managed to stay out till 3am!
You'd think I'd be recuperating in bed today. But no... I went rollerblading this afternoon, then yoga in the evening followed by another coffee session.
So you see, I've been busy trying to live my life.
I am excused for not posting photos as promised right?
I need to sleep now cos I've got a morning Frankfurt tomorrow.
Sweet dreams everyone. 2007/11/3 InertiaOh dear, I know I promised photos but I haven't had time to upload them cos I've been working, partying and catching up on sleep.
First of all, HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Was dressing up as vampires, frankensteins or R2D2 any fun at all? I missed my halloween party to sleeping in Glasgow but the cold, wet weather there just made me wanna stay in bed.
Back in Dubai, when I'm not in bed or watching Grey's Anatomy, I must be out in Zinc.
Was there last Saturday ...
and again today ...
Wish I had someone to tell me not to keep late nights so often. It's 6am now and I only just got home. No wonder I'm sleeping all my days away. And tomorrow after I wake up, I'm going back to bed again cos I've got a morning flight to Tunisia the day after.
I should just spend the whole day in bed shouldn't I?
I am seriously such a bummer.
Anyway, today I decided that I needed a change, so I popped into my hairdresser and exited as a red head.
![]() I wanted something dark and easy to maintain and thought maybe jet black hair. I chose a dark colour but it turned out bright red. Much redder than expected. But sometimes I like the unexpected and I like my new hair colour though it doesn't look that red here.
My camera, although brought back to life, is acting like it's got a tumour again. It's been hanging on me pretty often and I wish I could simply hit alt+ctrl+del but I can't. So I end up removing the battery and replacing it again- killing it softly.
Folks, take it from me- the ocean and electronics do NOT go hand in hand.
Having some problems uploading my "Finding Nemo" shots that I took at the Sydney Aquarium but will put those up soon.
*crosses fingers*
